ECONOMY

The main economic activities of this province concern mainly the tertiary sector, the production of wine and salt and the tourist sector developed thanks to the historical and cultural importance as well as the landscapes and the naturalistic aspects of the various municipalities and islands that are included in this provincial district.
The wine production represents a major economic activity and the number of its plants is almost half of the whole Sicily.
Among the main wines produced in the area we recall the white wines realized using the grapes Cataratto and the wines produced using the grapes Inzolia, Grillo and Grecanico.
